SKETCH Saturday-Jessica Cowan

Hi everyone!!! Wow! Christmas is just around the corner!!! Can you believe it!!

Our featured sketch artist today is Jessica Cowan.
Here's a little about her:

Hello, fellow scrappers! My name is Jessica Cowan and I have been married for 13 wonderful years to my high school sweetheart, Luke. We do not have any children, yet. Just several pets. I am a SAHW and run an online skin care boutique. I also sell some of my handmade items on Etsy and eBay. I have to have some way to support this scrapping habit of mine!I started scrapbooking about two years ago and I found that it is a great outlet for my creativity as well as a fun way to preserve my memories. My scrap pages range from traditional, to hybrid, to digital. I also love making handmade greeting cards and altering items with paper and embellishments. About eight months ago I started designing sketching for the ladies at the Scraps-n-Such community. To me sketches are a great way to get inspiration as well as a quick way to complete a page. Sometimes it's nice not having to come up with your own design! With that being said I hope my sketches inspire and motivate you to start scrapping.

...and here's Jessica's great sketch!!! Here's a layout by Linda Eterno inspired by the sketch.Remember scrappers, if you try it, let us know!!! We'd love to see it!!!Thanks so much Jessicaand Linda.

TEXT Thursday-Dec 18

Here's a great blog challenge for everyone today!!!

~~~
During the holiday season, many of my most treasured memories seem to revolve around the kitchen, while preparing some of our favorite holiday dishes and treats. The warmth and smells from the kitchen, the sound of everyone talking laughing and sharing the memories of Christmas past and the excitement of the days to come. I believe for me this is the best part of the holiday season... sharing it all together. My blog challenge for you, is to share with us one of your favorite family holiday recipes that everyone looks forward to creating and sharing together. Here is one of my families favorite holiday cookie recipes. Always one of the first to be eaten from the cookie tray! digital credits/Mootwo Recipe card/Angie Briggs Holiday doodles/font old style typewriter
Thanks Jean!!!
More about Jean
Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? All my pages are special to me because they hold all my family's memories. This layout of my sister and myself is most definitely very close to my heart,There are very few photos of my sister and myself together as little girls. This is one of two photos of us together shortly after my birth. Makes its way dear and near to the top of my favorites.
How many hours a week do you scrap?As many as I can, if not scrapping my free time can be found in my craftroom working on one project or another.
What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? lately it has been flowers,rub-ons and rhinestones. Though I do like stitching somewhere on my layout,real or faux.
What do you love the most about scrapping? The creative outlet that it brings... it is my getaway from the everyday stress that life can bring.
What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? I don't think there is to much I don't like, except maybe journaling, I am really bad at forming a proper sentence and spelling.That does hold me back.
What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? Myself
Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? no
Have you ever been published? no,I have never submitted before.
What would be your perfect day? Awarm sunny summer day with family all gathered together sharing a picnic table full of Steamed Maryland Hardshell Blue Crabs. Yummy!!!
I can't imagine my life without: my family they are my rock.
SISTER Sunday - Dec 14th
We have a special lady for you to meet this morning. Jean was our very first sister back when we started our blog.
We thought we'd invite her back for a week :-)
Jean Pennington
Tell us about your family: It is now just myself and spouse that live at home with our cat Nancy and dog Jack. I have three wonderful sons and daughter-in laws, two sweet as can be grandaughters ages 17 month and 4 months old who are the shining lights in our little family. And my Mother who I am very close with has now moved down to my state to be close to us.
Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? After the death of my Father in 2004 all the old family photos passed down to me. I had been working on my families genealogy for many years and had compiled them all into an album. I thought it would be nice to add some photographs to go along.
Coming across a Scrapbook magazine in the store I thought this would be perfect not only would it add to my family history but it would help to satisfy my urge to create.
Does anyone in your family also scrap? Sadly no one yet , but we do all share a common bond of crafting in different mediums.
What size do you normally scrap? Normally 12 X 12 though I began with 8.5 x11
What is your favourite colour scheme? I don't think I really have one...but I do notice I tend to use abit of red in my layouts. I am drawn to earth colors.
Jean submitted this altered item for Challenge 84:
Take a look at Jean's beautiful work in her gallery and also on her blog - Welcome to My Craft World.
Drop by tomorrow for our next weekly challenge!
SKETCH Saturday-Zarah
Hi everyone!
Well, we are getting close to the end of the year! Amazing huh!
Our featured sketch artist today is ZARAH!
Here's a little about her:
I am Zarah - a 29 year old Swede. Mother of two - both furry (with a tail) and married to my soul mate Mikael.
My days are spent scrapping, writing, reading, photographing, drawing and... watching movies with my wonderful husband (and the cats. Never underestimate the moviewatchiness of two cuddly cats...! ;)).
I have a weird sense of humour, a big heart and an addiction to coffee...! ;)
I started my sketch blog a while back after my friends kept asking for my sketches. I decided to put them in a place where they could just pick and chose - and that escalated into what it is today. I'm very happy that people seem to enjoy my doodling! :)
I'm honoured to be featured at Sisterhood of Scrap. Thank you very much!
Here's Zarah's sketch for you today! Doesn't it look like FUN!!!
Thanks Zarah! If you try it, ladies,let us know! We'd love to see it!!!
Tracy's Favorite layout...
Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? My favorite changes all the time, but my current favorite is attached. I recently submitted it to one of Becky Fleck’s blog contests – whether I win or not, I am really happy with the color scheme, the design (based on one of Becky’s sketches) and what it represents!
What do you love the most about scrapping? Absolutely everything – from taking the photos to design to picking the papers and embellishments to journaling to putting it all together!
What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? Absolutely nothing.
What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? I don’t really find anything in particular difficult – I use a lot of challenges from various places to get me started if I have a creative block.
Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? No
Have you ever been published? No – I just submitted my first layout for possible publication a few weeks ago and it is one of my goals for 2009.
What type of camera do you use? Canon Digital Rebel XT
What would be your perfect day? A day on the beach with a good book, my iPod, my husband and daughter and lots of toys!
I can't imagine my life without ...my family.
UPDATE:TRACY WON!!! Congrats Tracy!
TEXT Thursday - Dec 11th
Tracy sent a BLOG challenge for today. Enjoy!
"The holidays are a time for great memories and I vividly remember so many things about celebrating Christmas when I was a child. My journaling challenge is to write about your favorite childhood memory - whether it is about the holidays or something else, whether you have photos or not!"
