TEXT Thursday - July 31

Our sister JJ, has an interesting Text challenge for us today. Here's what she says:

My challenge for everyone would be to complete this sentence: "______ makes me happy". Then scrapbook about it! Don't forget to use on this LO some supplies that you've been hoarding for "something special" - now's your chance!

Here's the LO she created for her own challenge:

Thanks so much JJ!

JJ's favorite layouts...

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? That's tough! There are two that come to mind right away. One is a picture of my son doodling, and I love the picture and how the LO just came together the way I imagined it. It was a breakthrough in my scrapping.

The second is a LO I did with my daughter's ultrasound pics. I was so pleasantly surprised to find out I was having a girl, and it was so funny what the doctor said when I asked if it was safe to starting buying pink. (She said "Buy Pink, but keep the receipt")

What do you love the most about scrapping? The chance for a creative outlet to be tied to my memory keeping. So much more fun than just a journal.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? When I get into a technique that is a pain to cleanup. I prefer low-maintenance scrapping, LOL!
What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? My Dad. He died last year, and I want to scrap a lot of photos about him, so that my kids will 'know' him. But it's still painful at this point, so I haven't done as many as I would have liked.

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? No - but I would consider it. It's hard to get into that in my area, as you really need to be fluently bi-lingual to teach classes in Montreal. My French skills just aren't up to that level.

Have you ever been published? My first published LO will be quite soon - I have a LO in the upcoming fall issue of Canadian Scrapbooker, and I'm very excited about it, as the LO has special meaning for me - it's about my Grandfather.

What type of camera do you use? I have a Canon Rebel XTi, and I carry around a Canon Elph in my purse. Best of both worlds that way - I have the big girl camera for when I want to get great pictures, and the small pocket sized one so I don't miss out when an unexpected photo op comes up.

What would be your perfect day? Any day where I could sleep til noon, and spend the rest of the day with my family. Sushi dinner in there somewhere wouldn't hurt, LOL!

I can't imagine my life without ... I know I should say my children. But I've only been a mom for 3 years, so I remember what it was like pre-kids. So my answer is: I don't WANT to imagine my life without my kid(s). I CANT imagine my life without caffeine. :)

WEB Wednesday - July 30th

JJ says, "One of my favorite sites to visit is the Pioneer Woman blog and her photography blog. Her regular blog always makes me laugh, and she takes such beautiful photos! And I have learned so much from her photography blog - she's self taught, so she uses words that all of us non-professionals can really understand."

Thanks, JJ!

SISTER Sunday - July 27th

Good Morning, everybody! Are you ready for our new sister?!?

JJ Sobey, from Montreal.

Tell us about your family: My husband André and I have been married for nearly 7 years. We were married in a costumed, Renaissance wedding! We have a 3 year old boy named Liam, and his baby sister is due in August. I can't wait to have a daughter - it will be so nice to experience being a mother to a boy AND a girl. (And I can't wait to not be pregnant - I feel like a beached whale, LOL!). I'm an accountant in my day-job, although I'm starting my maternity leave now. My real dream job would be SAHM.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? My boy! I found that I was starting to forget details so easily after he was born, and I wanted to remember everything, so scrapbooking was a great solution. I had resisted the hobby for many years, because I know how much I like nice paper (I could easily spend hours in a stationary store!). I knew it would be addicting/consuming, and I wasn't far wrong.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? My sister digi-scraps, and a couple of my cousins paper scrap, so it's fun to share LO's back and forth.

What size do you normally scrap? 12x12 (but I like to dabble in other formats)

What is your favourite colour scheme? Right now? Pale blue with chocolate brown. But I suspect that will change to pink in a few short weeks, LOL!

How many hours a week do you scrap? When I'm NOT pregnant? Probably 12-16 hours a week. Now that I'm preggo, and short on energy, I mostly scrap on Friday nights.

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? Lately it's been buttons. I have a hard time doing a LO without them. I'm also quite addicted to Fancy Pants felt these days.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Eclectic, changes daily. :)

SKETCH Saturday-July 26-2 Sketch Artists today!

Hi scrapping sisters!!!

We have a double treat for you today!!

2 sketch artists!!! JEN DEL MURO and MICHELLE GRANT!

Isn't it more fun to have 2 scoops of ice cream than 1? Yep!!! So this Saturday you have 2 sketches instead of 1 !!! Enjoy!!!!

A little from MICHELLE:

Hi, I am a mum of two teenagers: Leonii (15) & Wiliam (13). I have been married to Don for 17yrs this year. I have been scrapping since 2003, and it has been my whole life for the past few years. Not a day goes by that I am not thinking about scrapping or sketching, or planning or doing it! I have the biggest pile of sketch books that I have sketched ideas in, I sketch whenever I get 5mins to sit down in front of the TV or on a plane etc, Inspiration is everywhere when you start looking!I teach at our LSS Scrap Happy and love Teaching and sharing my passion! I also thrive on the deadlines and competitions to get my creativity flowing. I have work published regularly in The Australian Scrapping Magazines. I am also a contributor for the Aussie Dares and K-Joi Studios Digital site. I am still a newbie when it comes to digital work but it can be addictive too! I am also on the design team with a New Australian company Scrapping Clearly they specialise in clear acrylic albums. You can also find me on my blog Time Waits For No One
Life is just one big roller coaster and I am so glad I have scrapbooking to record all the highs and lows.
Scrapbooking is so much more than a hobby for me, it is a reason! It can lift your spirits remembering good times , it can help with the grieving process and feel closer to loved ones lost and just being creative helps with stress levels too! Not to mention the fabulous and inspirational friends I have made in this industry, I feel so blessed to have so many wonderful friends right across Australia and the World through this craft.

And here are Michelle's layout sketch and layout! I love it ,Michelle!!!

A little from JEN:

First, I want to say a HUGE THANK YOU for inviting me back to be featured on the Sisterhood of Scrap site. I hope that you will enjoy playing along with the sketch that I have created. My passion is stamping, although I love everything paper crafting. Ever since I can remember, I have made cards. I have always loved coloring and when I was younger, I would go through an entire coloring book in just a couple of days. A few years back I was introduced to stamping and I have never looked back. In the fall of 2004, I was invited to be on the Dirty Dozen Design Team on Splitcoast. WOW!! What an honor that was!! That was my first DT experience and since then I have been very busy working with My Favorite Things {DT Coordinator}, The Cat's Pajamas, Verve Stamps, Glue Art & Paper Studio and The Purple Turtle Stamp Shoppe {featuring Inque Boutique stamps}. I have also been a reporter for Craft Critique. I am literally consumed by my crafting and love {just about} every minute of it.

And here are Jen's card sketch and card. Isn't the card just the cutest!!!

Thanks ladies!!! Did you notice that the 2 samples have biker gals on them!!! Sweet!!!
Remember scrappers, if you try their sketches be sure to link us up so we can go see!!!

Have a great Saturday, everyone!

FOTO Friday - July 25th

I was looking through flickr earlier today and came upon this collection of plush toy photos. This got me thinking about the toys I had when growing up. I wish I had photos of my special toys to go along with the good memories.

My children have SO MANY plush toys -- and they have names for all of them! One day they all got their plushies out and spread them out on the stairs to get a photo of them. I'll have to try and find that photo and scrap it someday :-)

So... here's a challenge for you: photograph some of your child's favorite toys, or maybe you still have favorites from your younger years.

Post it to your blog or post in the comments. We'd love to see what your child holds dear.

Aimee's favorite layout....

Favorite layout: I think it must be one I did recently for a challenge…it was one of my girls carefully studying a bug in a tree.

What I love about scrapping: I seem to scrap more when I’m stressed. It is a stress reliever for me. Oh but most important…all the yummy paper!

What I dislike: THAT I CAN’T HAVE IT ALL!

Difficult topic: Me. I can scrap about the kids, hubby, pets, vacations etc…but when it comes to me I just can’t seem to do it. I really need to so my kids and grandkids will have something to remember me when I’m gone.

Taught a class: No. I have helped prepare for and been kind of an assistant for classes, but never by myself. Unless you want to count the time my daughter had a scrap party for her birthday. I taught 14 preteens how to make a backpack tag, a mini address book and a mini paper bag album.

Been published: No

What kind of camera: I use a Sony CyberShot 7.2. I would love a new one, but it’s not in the budget!

A perfect day would be: me in my pj’s scrapping in a huge scrap store with everything I could imagine at my finger tips. Including some cocktails! With no one saying "mommy, mommy I want…can I have" or "honey, what’s for dinner"

I can’t imagine my life without:
My family, because they are the reason I scrap.

TEXT Thursday-July 24th

WEB Wednesday - July 23rd

Today's Web Wednesday comes from our sister, Aimee. Here's what she says:

"My favorite website is SYC. They have a new challenge every week and you can only use your old scrap stuff, so it encourages you to dig through all your old stuff you just had to buy but never used -- which I know we are all famous for. They have a really great rak this week! No, not stuff, but something good that any blogger can use!"

Thanks Aimee!!
