SISTER Sunday - Feb 22nd

More about Ali :-)

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? No, only online classes or tutorials.

Have you ever been published? Not my scrappin’! Have had a few online credits: in Becky Fleck Cardmaps and in the Basic Grey Gallery. I’m a freelance writer and have been published by a Canadian magazine called Exceptional Family (I wrote the cover story, Summer 2007 issue) and in Australia—a school curriculum publication has used my work!! I am working on a book project with a scrappin’ focus… for pre-teens/teens.

What type of camera do you use? Kodak Easyshare C743

What would be your perfect day? Up early but no chores. Scrap all day listening to Sugarland and Kenny Chesney. Children are all safe, happily occupied with a fun activity and fed regular meals that I did not have to prep. Children ferried to where they need to go without me having to drive them. LOL! Supper: Chicken Fajitas, then no cleanup- just scrappin’. I would tuck the kids into bed at the appropriate time then scrap until 2 AM! LOL What a great question!

I can't imagine my life without ... Peter. He is my soulmate, & my best friend for always.

SISTER Sunday - Feb 15th

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? It’s a LO I did with the January 2009 “Prudence” Kit from Scrapbooker’s Club House.

What do you love the most about scrapping? It is a way to relax that benefits more people than just ME!

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? The horrible mess I make! I can’t go to bed w/o tidying it up! UGH! LOL (I didn’t tell you that in addition to being the slowest scrapper on Earth, that I am also the messiest, did I?) LOL

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? Events like birthdays. They always turn out nicely, BUT!

SISTER Sunday - Feb. 8th

Let's learn a bit more about our sister - Ali :-)

How many hours a week do you scrap? Ooooh, Lordy, I am the world’s slowest scrapper. It can take me over 3-4 hrs to do a page. I am also a real homebody! So: I scrap EVERY night after the little guys are in bed. I am thinking that alone is 3- 4 hrs a night… so 20-24 hrs a week! LOL. Also, I have recently begun to tackle some assignments in the daytime (never did that before!) and that is maybe 1- 2 hrs a day. So in a week, conservatively, I prolly do actual scrapbooking for about 25-30 hours.

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? Eeek! One? Bazzill Cardstock, my trimmer, Ink it up! Khaki dye ink pad, and the Tim Holtz Design Ruler.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Narrative, Flexible, Eclectic

SISTER Sunday - February 1st

WELCOME to our first sister of the new year!

Ali MacDonald joins us from NS, Canada.

Tell us about your family: I have known my DH [Pete] since I was 16, when his family moved in across the street from mine! We have been married x 17 years! Peter is in the Air Force. We have 4 children, Kate 15, Bryan 13, Daniel 8, and Noah, almost 7. We have a passion for animal rescue and currently have 5 pets: all rescues~ 3 cats and 2 dogs. We also have a pony named Oakley, but since we don’t live on a farm, she is boarded at a riding stable nearby.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I had always kept albums with pics and captions, but knew they were unsafe! I heard about a class at the LSS, and mentioned it to my sister who was planning to come visit that w/e. I signed us up… took the 2 hr course (LSS is now closed) and LOVED it. Became dedicated to memory keeping at THAT point.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? My youngest sister Alexandra, 11 yrs my junior, does. She took that class with me! Alex said she has been thinking of getting back into it since her marriage in August.

What size do you normally scrap? 12x12 but 6x12 is a favourite as well.

What is your favourite colour scheme? I am all over the map. I do have 3 go-to cardstock colours: Denim, Candlelight and Pomegranate; all Bazzill. I usually order 2-3 sheets of those with every order from my fave online store! I keep stocked up on it! LOL
