TEXT Thursday - Feb 28th
How many of you like your handwriting? Even though we all did handwriting all up through school, somewhere along the way our writing seemed to get sloppier and messier. I just wanted to encourage you, though, to not be afraid to use your own handwriting on your layouts. As long as it's readable :-) I think years down the road our families will enjoy seeing our handwriting -- and it can make our pages feel more personal.

About Tracy...
Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? I love my scrap space – I have a big L shaped work surface and lots of organized drawers and shelves. All my embellishments are in pretty jars so I can see them and remember to use them!
What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? I don’t have a favourite – I love them all!
Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? I am an avid reader and breed/show German shepherd dogs.
What scrapbook magazines do you read? Primarily Simple Scrapbooks and Creating Keepsakes, although I seem to pick one up every time I’m at the grocery store!
How thick is your cardstock and paper stash? A couple feet??
Are you an organized or messy scrapper? M-E-S-S-Y!!!! It’s part of the creative process for me. But I have to put everything away when I’m done scrapbooking for the day, because starting with a messy space is definitely UN-inspiring for me!
Favorite Snack: Pretzels & French onion dip
Favorite Drink: Mmmm….coffee
Favorite Paper: It varies, but Basic Grey, Bo Bunny and Crate are perennial favorites
Favorite Technique: Doodles!
Favorite Embellishment: It’s hard to pick one – but I would have to say brads, since you can use them for so many things
Favorite Scrap Tool: My CraftRobo
Favorite Adhesive: Glue Dots

SISTER Sunday - February 24
Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to my husband, Adam for 10 years in May and we have a beautiful daughter, Alexa, who is almost 4. We are in the process of adopting a baby boy from Russia and we should be traveling in late April to meet him. We have 2 German shepherds, a cat and a big tank of tropical fish – and they’re definitely part of our family, too!
How/Why did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking in 2000 when I was introduced to Creative Memories at a home class, and I never looked back! It didn’t take me long to discover "contraband" supplies….I’ve recently really started digital scrapping and now I’m about 60% digital/40% traditional
How long have you been scrapbooking? Since 2000
What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? I work full time in a corporate environment, so scrapbooking is my creative outlet and I just really enjoy the process – from editing the photos to designing the layout to actually putting it together.
How many hours a week do you scrapbook? Somewhere between 10 and 20…
How long does it take you to complete a layout? It can take me 15 minutes or weeks, it just depends on how quickly I get "the idea." Generally, though, actual time spent on an individual layout is somewhere in the neighborhood of an hour.
Where do you get your inspiration? Everywhere – galleries, blogs, magazines, magazine ads, cereal boxes, catalogs….
***********
***********
Looking forward to reading more about you this week, Tracy!

SKETCH Saturday-Feb. 23rd -Jolene Pienaar
Hope you are all having a great weekend! We have a beautiful layout sketch and sample for you today! It's by Jolene.Here's a little about her:
I am very fortunate to have the most gorgeous 2 year old little girl Katie-Lee. She provides me with endless amounts of laughs and joys and of course gives me a gorgeous topic to scrap about frequently.
I found Scrapbooking when I was pregnant with her, very keen to document all those special achievements in her life I started dabbling in this gorgeous hobby, it didn’t take me long to realize that I have found a life long love in photos paper and glues.
I write and create a lot of my work for Scrapbooking Creations Magazine. I’m very fortunate to be on the Design Team of one of my most favourite Sketch Inspiration sites – Pencil Lines. I am also a Design Team member on an Australian Scrapbooking Store – Scrapbook ‘n’ Bits and also do some occasional sketches for an awesome sketch blog located at Crafting In Style’s Stylish Sketches.
I try to keep my personal blog – Seize the Moment; updated, so feel free to pop over and say ‘hi’.
Have fun with the sketch ladies!!!
Happy scrapping, everyone and don't forget to post a link in the comments so we can see your creation!

TEXT Thursday - Feb 21st
My husband and I received a lovely card in the mail this past week -- just a "thinking of you" sort of card. The sender wrote some encouraging words for us and our family. It was so neat and meant a great deal to hubby and I.
We got to thinking that this is something we all need to be doing more of -- encouraging and uplifting others, whether by sending a little card of letter, zipping off a quick email, or phoning a friend -- whatever is most comfortable. Even if it's not especially comfortable for you (which for me it is not!), just think how you would feel being the recipient of such a note.
My challenge to you is to try and find at least ONE way this week to encourage someone else. I promise, you'll feel better for doing it!

In the meantime, we'll learn more about Susan this week!

SKETCH Saturday-Feb. 16th Lucy Chesna
Lucy was featured last year and graciously offered another sketch for us this year! Thanks Lucy!!!
Here some info about Lucy:
Hi, my name is Lucy Chesna and I am from Billerica, Ma. I am married to my best friend for 12 years and we have two beautiful children. I am SAHM and love every minute of it!I am completely addicted to scrapbooking, message boards and sketches. I started scrapbooking right after my son was born in 1998 but got into it more in 2001, when my daughter was born and the rest is history. I got into my first message board in 2002 and I got hooked and became a better scrapbooker because of it. There is so much talent out there that that I absorbed all that information and added my own twist to it. The sketches started in 2004 when I had to create a sketch for a contest, I didn't win but it opened the flood gates to more sketches eventually to my own sketch blog this year. I have been very fortunate to be surrounded by talent ladies in the past few years and I thank them for inspiring me every day.I am DT for Scrapbook Doodle ,Happy Scrappin Scrapbooking and Scrap O'Licous.I am a Sketch Designer for Scrapbook Oasis and Serendipity Kits.
I have published many times in ScrapStreet, Ready Set and Create and Becky Fleck NewsletterI am Team Coordinator of Pub Calls Blog and VIP Team for iScrapI have my own sketch blog called My Sketch World that I post weekly sketches and have layout examples from The Sketch World Divas. You can find more of my work at my blog .
Here's Lucy's sketch:
If you try Lucy's sketch, please let us know! We'd love to see your creation!!!

TEXT Thursday - Feb 14/08
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
I was browsing some websites the other day trying to come up with some inspirational ways to journal, or some interesting sentence startes that make great conversation starters too.
While browsing, I found these awesome sentence starters:
It is important that I...
I must make sure that...
I found that I really needed help with...
It really made me think when...
I work better when...
When I do this again I will...
We would love for you to take one of these starters and create a blog entry. And...we'd love to read what you have written, so please provide a link in the comments!
Have fun!

TEACHING Tuesday-Feb 12
Lisa has a great technique for us to try today! This is something I've never done, but I am willing to try!!!
I love adding texture to my pages and ribbon is just one of the many great products that I love to use. But sometimes it just feels too flat to me so using my sewing machine I sew the ribbon on, pleating it as I go. I love the extra dimension the pleats add to a page.If you don't have a sewing machine, you can achieve the same look by using glue dots and placing them between the pleats to hold them in place.
~~~
Why don't you try it, or if you HAVE tried it, leave a link to where we can see some ideas of pleated ribbon! We'd love to see it!!!
Here is Lisa's LO!!
Here is Deanne's LO ~ inspired by a sketch from
SISTER Sunday - February 10th
Tell us about your family: I've been married to my husband Mike for 6.5 years. I'm currently a stay at home Mom to our 3 beautiful children aged 7, 5 & 3.
How long have you been scrapbooking? I've been scrapping for about 2 years.
What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? It's an outlet for my creativity, along with a great way to connect with people and make new friends!
How long does it take you to complete a layout? I'm a bit of a slow scrapper, pages can take me over 2hrs, I like to step back or walk away before putting the finishing touches on it.
Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? It's not much of a space, just a corner in the basement, but I have a great desk made from old kitchen cabinets by my husband. I love that it's in the rec. room so I can scrap while the kids play around me.
What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? Bright colors, just looking at them inspires me!
Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? I recently started painting again, it was something I enjoyed when I was much younger but lost touch with it.
What scrapbook magazines do you read? Scrapbooks Etc. and Canadian Scrapbooker.
Are you an organized or messy scrapper? A little bit of both, I love making the mess while I'm working, but every once in a while it feels great to clean it all up and start fresh!
Anything else you want to share? I'm starting my first Design Team role at The Scrapping Bug which I'm very excited about!!! My first kit reveal will be March 1st, make sure you all stop by and check it out!
SKETCH Saturday-Feb 9 Stacey Lokovic
I am on the creative team at Feeling Scrappy. It's a great site that offers online classes created to motivate scrapbookers of all levels. In fact, we'll be offering a sketch class called Sketch-apalooza in March. (Details can be found on the FS website.) I also host a weekly card sketch challenge every Thursday on the message board at Feeling Scrappy.
My blog site is http://www.stacey-scraps.blogspot.com/ .
What a cute layout!Look how Stacey made her circles! Very creative! Must try that!
Remember, everyone, if you try Stacey's sketch ,let us know where we can see your creation! Your creation doesn't necessarily have to be a layout! I've recently taken a layout sketch and created a card. So, if you are a card-maker, I challenge you to use this layout sketch and create a card!!! It's fun trying to figure out how to get everything on your card on a smaller scale!!
FOTO Friday - February 8th
How often do you back up your photos? I've had two friends this past week lose all their digital photos when their computers crashed! It happens! One friend had a removable hard-drive sitting on his desk, but just hadn't gotten around to saving his photos on it. And now they're GONE!
I've been putting off this chore, but now all my photos are on my removable drive AND on dvds. Yaaah, me!
So, here's a reminder for you!! Back up your photos on a removable drive or burn them on a CD/DVD. Make a plan that you'll do this every month, or every week if you take lots of photos. And while you're at it, save your documents as well :-)
When you eat these treats, or think about them, what kinds of memories do they bring back?
Here are some visuals to get you thinking back!
Mystery Envelopes
We have another challenge for our members this month -- just trying something new :-)
The challenge is "mystery envelopes" -- the mystery being that you don't know what's in the envelope. I have 8 envelopes packaged and ready to go to the first 8 members to email me. Each envelope has the same products - an assortment of patterned paper, ribbon and some smaller embellishments.
*****Edited to add: We have our eight players! Ladies, your envelopes will go in the mail tomorrow! Thanks, everyone, for emailing. If you didn't get picked, try again next month! *****
Your challenge, if you chose to accept an envelope, is to do a layout using at least one of everything in the envelope. You add your own cardstock. You may add other products but please keep it to a minimum. Deadline for layouts is February 29th.
You would then need to scan or photograph your layout and send it (or a link) to me. At the end of the month, we'll display your creations on our blog.
Sound like fun?! I've participated in this sort of challenge before and really enjoyed it. It's neat to see how everyone uses the same items in such different ways/styles.
So, a recap of the DETAILS:
- Be one of the first 8 people to email me with your mailing address
- Wait for your envelope to arrive in the mail
- Create a layout using at least one of each of the supplies
- Send us a link to your layout, or send a scanned pic by February 29th
Please don't email for an envelope unless you can complete the challenge. By accepting an envelope from us, you are agreeing to us posting your layout on our blog.
We are planning on running this challenge more regularly, so, if you don't get picked this month, try again next time!
TEACHING Tuesday - Feb 5th
One of Rose Ann's favorite techniques at the moment is distressing the edges of paper with stamp pad ink or paint. It really does add a neat touch to a layout or project.
Another distressing idea is to lightly sand the edges of you pp or even your photos. I really like the look of sanded photos. I use a emery board or a nail file for my sanding needs :-) Just lay your photo on the edge of your table or mat and sand in a downward motion.
