TEACHING Tuesday - October 30th

Today's teaching tip is by our sister, Tricia.

"I recently presented this tip at CSS using FUN WITH FELT! You can view my tip here."

Check it out!

~*~*~*~*~
Let's learn a bit about Tricia :-)

Where do you get your inspiration? Lately all of my inspiration comes from the very talented ladies at the Creative Scrap Shack. I no longer receive magazines and the talent at this place is amazing! Come and say hello!

Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? My space is totally my own at the moment! It’s cozy and flows really well! My computer is right next to my table and I don’t have to leave the room to get supplies! My favorite part of my office is that my children can play computer games while I scrap and we are together in the same room!

What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? Any color other than purple!!

Are you an organized or messy scrapper? I am organized until I scrap then it looks like a tornado ripped through the room! I clean my table after each project because I am always losing things! LOL

SISTER Sunday - October 28

Hey everyone! Time for a new SISTER! Please welcome TRICIA SCHOEFFLER!!

Tell us about your family: I have two of the most wonderful, beautiful children in the world! My daughter is 5 and my son is 10 and they are my main scrapbooking subjects! I’ve been married for 5.5 years to a workaholic who is currently working overseas.

How/Why did you start scrapbooking?
I began scrapbooking when my husband went to work overseas, and I became a SAHM!! I’d never been a “crafty” person before and I stumbled upon a box kit at Walmart. I had NO idea just how huge the industry was until I went online to do research and boy was I amazed...then I was obsessed!

How long have you been scrapbooking?
4.5 years

What is it about scrapbooking that you really love?
I love seeing the look on the faces of my children when they see a page about them. I also love the differences in each scrapper and how we all interpret challenges and pictures in such different ways.

How many hours a week do you scrapbook?
On average at least 10, but a good week is 20!

How long does it take you to complete a layout?
LOL…depends! Some LOs take hours and others come together very fast! Lately I use chipboard on nearly every LO so I am usually waiting for paint to dry!

~**~*~**~

Check out Tricia's gallery, and her blog.

..... and here are her cards from last week's challenge:

OK, remember Susan's "Foto Friday" challenge last week to post layout with 5 or more photos on it?? Well, my challenge this time is to post layouts with NO photos on them! Not every layout needs a photo to tell a story or create a memory. So , post a photo-less layout on your blog and let us know where we can see it.

TEACHING Tuesday-Oct.23rd

My tip for today is:

Use patterns that weren't necessarily designed for scrapbooking!

I posted instructions and pattern for a tole painting project on my own blog yesterday. I stated that you could even use pattern paper and scrapbooking supplies and create something. So that's what I did today.

I took the pattern and created a card.

Here is the original tole painting:

Here is the card I created using the pattern:

And here's you free pattern:

*P.S. If you'd like to see the tole painting instructions, click here.

SKETCH Saturday-Oct 20 Christy Mack

Our sketch artist we are featuring today is such a wonderful lady. I had the honor of serving on a DT with her for a while. She is so helpful and kind. She enjoys sharing her ideas and is a great person all around!

Here's a little about Christy Mack:

FOTO Friday - October 19

Today I thought I'd pay tribute to all of those multiphoto layouts that we've all done! I'm currently in a cre8ive idol contest at Just Cre8 and this weeks challenge was to create a LO with at least 5 photos. Although I cannot share that one here until the voting is over you can see it HERE!! I have to say that it IS rare for me to create a multiphoto LO.

So...for all you multiphoto scrappers, we'd love to see all the creative ways you arrange your photos on a page! (Carla and Deanne...I can think of LOs that you have done with many photos on them!)
Share links to your LOs in the comments so we can be inspired by them!!

TEXT Thursday-Leaving some Love...

I've been wondering what to post about today, this being Text Thursday..... And the thought just popped into my head about 2 minutes ago!

OK, here it is:

Let's visit some galleries and personal blogs of other scrapbookers this weekend and leave some love, happy thoughts, encouragement, compliments. Let's leave some evidence that a "scrapping sister" has been there and totally appreciates them for who they are. Kind words bring smiles to the faces of those who are reading them, and I'm positive that if we take this challenge upon ourselves this weekend we can uplift and encourage other scrappers out there!

How about it? You wanna do it, too! Let's go for it!!!! Leave some "love" for others!

SISTER Sunday-October 14th

Our featured sister this week is our very own sister, Carla!!!Carla and I started scrapbooking around the same time (late 2003, early 2004). I remember I had a few pages done before I got HER hooked on it! She was totally excited about it when she saw the pages I had done and was on her way to being addicted as soon as she completed her first layout.

Here's some info about Carla:

Tell us about your family: I am married to Devin. We have 4 children – Luke, Timothy, Jessica and Benjamin. I homeschool all four children – from Grade 10 down to Grade 5. Devin works from home in our recording studio.

How/Why did you start scrapbooking? My sister encouraged me to start. Another sister sent me a scrapbooking kit, complete with an album. So…. I started. I have so many photos that are sitting in boxes (thankfully, they are at least sorted now!) and I want to get them into albums for my family and me to enjoy.

How long have you been scrapbooking? Hmmm, I think I started in Jan 2004.

What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? I just love looking at my photos and remembering all the fun times and the sad times. When I see my kids sitting and looking at my albums, that makes me feel like I’m doing something meaningful.

How many hours a week do you scrapbook? Between 10-15 per week.

How long does it take you to complete a layout? Sometimes several hours, but mostly around 2 hrs.

Where do you get your inspiration? I like looking through online galleries for ideas. I also buy a magazine every once in a while to see what’s new.

Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? My scrap space is/was my sewing space at one time. It’s not used very often for sewing now – unless it’s on my layouts . I like it. I have a big table and two tall drawer units. I have 3 smaller drawer units on my table that hold my embellishments. I also have a rack for my paper.

What are your favourite colours to scrapbook with? I like the browns and greens. They are "my" colors, though I use many colors in my layouts. One I don’t use much is purple.

Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? Yes, I enjoy sewing and cake decorating. Reading is a big hobby of mine.

What scrapbook magazines do you read? Scrapbooks, etc. and Simple Scrapbooks.

How thick is your cardstock and paper stash? Cardstock is only about 3 inches high; paper probably 10 inches.

Are you an organized or messy scrapper? I try to be organized, but the table quickly gets messy. Sometimes I even pay my daughter to come clean off my table. She does a great job of putting stuff away .

Carla's blog is called Pursuit of Scrappyness and you can find her awesome work at Lovebug Scrapbooking Gallery.

SKETCH Saturday-Oct 13 Patti Hutchinson

Our featured sketch artist today is PATTI HUTCHINSON!

Here's what Patti has to say:

Hi! I'm Patti and I'm a SAMH of four. I have two sets of twins. (Yes! You read that right). Two boys who are 7 and a boy and girl who will turn 4 in December. I have been married to my husband Mike for almost 13 years! We live in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania which is the town right next to Valley Forge (where George Washington braved the snowy winter)!

Before becoming a SAHM, I worked as Project Manger in the IT Field. I have a BS in Computer Science and a Minor in Art. I'm also a Certified Group Exercise Instructor and Personal Trainer.

I'm incredibly organized, funny and love people. I've been doing crafts as long as I can remember and just love this crazy hobby we call Scrapbooking. I love creating all kinds of projects (and even writing the instructions). I don't think I have a style because I'll try anything once. I've also been creating sketches for a few years and hope to share them with everyone.

I am so honored to be a part of the awesome Design Team for
A Million Memories - a Monthly Kit club and online store! I'm also on the Design Team for Rita Marie & Company.

Find a nice park or just go to your backyard. The colors of the leaves really make for some wonderful backdrops for photos.

TEACHING Tuesday - October 9th

Today's teaching tip comes from Tracey.

"I am hooked on doodling templates right now, particularly Crafter's Workshop. Here are a few things you can do with them besides the typical doodles:

-Look for doodles that look like letters, particularly the letter 'S'. This makes a great monogram for the title of a layout. {example here}

-Lightly trace the scroll or flourish with a pencil and use it to journal, then erase your line.

-Trace the flourish and use it as a guide for stitching. Attach a few flowers when you are done and you have a great vine detail for your layout or card."

Here are some of Tracey's favorites :-)

Favorite Snack: chips and dip

Favorite Drink: water

Favorite Paper: This is continually changing. Right now, I love Crafter’s Workshop, the Paper Trunk, Daisy D’s, Basic Grey. Was I supposed to just name one? LOL

Favorite Technique: Sewing

Favorite Embellishment: Scrolls

Favorite Scrap Tool: Doodling Templates by Crafter’s Workshop

Favorite Adhesive: UHU glue stick

TEXT Thursday - Oct 4

In keeping with the theme this week let's do an easy BLOG challenge.

If you have a blog, write a post today telling about your feelings about greeting cards. These days, it seems as though e-cards are more popular than real cards, but there are many people who still appreciate a card in the mail or given in person. Do you like giving cards? Do you enjoy receiving them? For what occasions to you give cards? Do you make your own, or give store-bought? Do you give thoughtful, meaningful cards or humorous cards? Do you keep cards that others have given you?

We've love for you to post a link to your blog in our comments section. If you don't have a blog, post in the comments also.
