Lisa's favorite layout!

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? I chose this one because it brings back such good memories. This was actually the weekend my husband and I got married! Yes, he DID take me SCRAPBOOKING on our HONEYMOON!! I used a lot of things from the Extravaganza on this layout. I took a picture of the t-shirt and used it as a page element, along with the ticket. The picture on the right hand page is of me and Debbie Haas. She co-authored the book Chicken Soup for the Scrapbooker's Soul. I took a picture of the cover of the book and it opens up to show a picture I took of where she signed my copy of the book.

What do you love the most about scrapping? Just playing with all my scrappy stuff and trying new things.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? CLEANING UP!!

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? Anything about myself.

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? Yes, many.

Have you ever been published? No, not YET.

What type of camera do you use? Right now, a Fuji Film Fine Pix E550 (Hoping Santa will bring a Canon Digital Rebel - and I think he IS GOING TO!!! )

What would be your perfect day? Low humidity, a cool breeze blowing, with lots of sunshine, home from work and all is peaceful at home with everyone healthy and happy!

I can't imagine my life without ...having had such a wonderful daddy! He passed away 8 years ago this past April. He was such a good man, taught me so much...and loved me so much! ... and I miss him so much! I was definitely a Daddy's Girl!! I HAVE to imagine him not being in my life right now, that is reality. But I can't imagine not ever having him. He was the best dad anyone could hope for!!

WEB Wednesday - August 20th

Lisa sent in a link to one of her favorite websites.

"My favorite website is Donna Downey's blog. Everything she does inspires me! She's lost a lot of weight and shared it on her blog, she has great "artsy" ideas and is just too funny on her video blogs!! I highly recommend visiting her site daily, you never know what you'll find :-)"

Teaching Tuesday

Here's a tip from Lisa:

My favorite scrapbook technique is inking. I LOVE to age everything! It just seems to complete what ever it is I'm working on.

Lisa, I'm the same thing! For me to do a layout without any inking on it, is RARE!!! I just love it too!

SISTER Sunday - August 17th

Please WELCOME Lisa Hodge as our sister this Sunday!

Tell us about your family: I'm married, have 3 boys I do work outside of my home, full time at the local grocery store as a cashier. I have been scrapbooking for about 10 years now. I have taught classes for the lss and have done make and takes at the past Scrapbook Extravaganza's that the store has held. I currently teach monthly classes at my church for anyone who will come! I LOVE to teach and design for the classes. I am also proud to be a Close To My Heart consultant.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I don't know, really. I think I just picked it up on my own. I did cut and clip from newspapers when I was in school. I had one of those HUGE books with the "construction paper"-like pages.... so I guess I've just brought my craftiness with me as I've grown up.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? No, not anymore. I had my sister scrappin' some, but she gave up her "addiction" awhile back, so it is just me again.

What size do you normally scrap? 12X12 mostly.

What is your favourite colour scheme? Bright summery colors, OR anything pink and brown

How many hours a week do you scrap? 5-10

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? My glue runner!! LOVE THOSE THINGS!!

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Complicated but simple.

SKETCH Saturday Aug 16-Day

Happy Saturday, everyone!!!

Our featured sketch artist today is DAY!

Here's what Day says:

Hi, my name is Day and I am very excited to be a Saturday featured sketch artist on Sisterhood of Scrap! I am a wife and mother of 2 beautiful little ones (2 yrs and 6 mos) and my almost teenaged stepson on beautiful Vancouver Island in BC. I have been scrapping for about a year and a half, but this is only the latest incarnation of my creative expression. I have always been into making things with my hands and creating beautiful things, but since I discovered scrapping there is no going back! I just love all the beautiful materials you get to play with and to have a lasting record of the adorable details of my kid's lives makes it even more worthwhile!

I have a sketch blog where I share my sketches every week and I also post a few random tips and tricks that I have found useful. I have recently been invited to be a sketch designer at Creatand am looking forward to delving deeper into the scrapbooking world and meeting more of the wonderful people who share my passion! If you would like to see some of my work you can find it at my gallery here.

I love sharing my sketches and seeing how people take my raw material and make it into something beautiful that reflects their own selves. I can't wait to see what you do with this one, it's one of my favorites!

~day

And here are Day's sketch and layout sample:
Thanks so much Day!!! Let us know if you try it ladies!!! We'd love to see your interpretation of Day's sketch!

Vanessa's Favorite Layout

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? My favorite layout is definitely one I completed of my friends and I during this past New Years. It’s so clean looking, but I used bright red and it really highlights aspects of the LO that are important.

What do you love the most about scrapping? I love that it is something to take me away from the every day things, it is something to channel some energy into and to take some stress away. I love being creative, I think about it all day long, and it is not unusual to find me Scrapbooking at 12 or 1 in the morning because I can’t find any other time to do it.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? If there is one thing I dislike, it’s having to clean up afterwards…ha ha! I scrapbook at my kitchen table because we live in a teeny weenie apartment, so I have to clean everything up, pack my Scrapbooking things back up and put everything away. Yuck! I need my own Scrapbooking room.

What would be your perfect day? My perfect day is just relaxing back in my hometown. I love it there, it’s so peaceful, you can hear the birds chirping, it’s so cozy! It’s home! No matter where else like takes me, that place will always be "home."

I can't imagine my life without ...my family, boyfriend and scraping tools! These are my three passions in life!

FOTO Friday - August 15th

When my brother visited this summer, he did a lot of photography shoots (and tried to take me along!) I did manage to get two shoots with him -- one doing some macro shots in our flower garden, and another on a local hiking trail -- more macros, but some scenic shots as well.

My brother is a whiz with the photography stuff and reads voraciously on any subject he is interested in. I learned a great deal from him. Now I just need to start reading up on things myself :-)

Here are some macros I took this summer. They are all RAW format (I used his Rebel). I haven't learned all the lightroom techniques, yet, for developing my photos.

I can't see myself getting rid of my small camera because it's great and handy for quick shots. I would love to have a bigger one, like a Canon Rebel, that I could get specific lenses for. Portrait photography is something I am interested in. I also enjoy macro photography.

How about you? Where are you in your photography journey?

Text Thursday-Aug 14th

Vanessa has a wonderful journalling prompt for us today:

I challenge you to journal/blog about your favorite summer traditions from when you were a young kid.
What are you most vivid memories? Is there something that stands out to you-
a song? A smell? A particular date?
Think back and share with us.
OK, get your pens or typing fingers ready and do this one! I think it's great.I have a lot of summer memories, so I have to think on it for a while first! Thanks Vanessa!
