SISTER Sunday -Sept 7th

Wow! this is our first Sister for September! Before you know it, it'll be December.Yikes!

Our sister this week is JULIE DUDLEY!
Name: Julie Dudley

Home: Perth Australia

Tell us about your family: My family consists of myself, Craig, my husband of 8 years ,my daughter Asher 7. Who just happens to be he subject of the majoritory of my pages and our cat Rennie. Asher's sister so we keep on being told.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? My love of scrapping evolved from cardmaking and stamping. I started this when I met my husbands best friends wife who got me hooked. I was often heard to say that scrapping would never get to me and that I love the papers just for my card making but it has gotten to me good.
Does anyone in your family also scrap? No they all think I'm crazy doing it and I often get asked when is enough enough. Never I say.
What size do you normally scrap? When I first started out it was all double12 by 12 pages but now I rarely do a double and have ventured out into doing different sizes 81/2 by 11's as well as 6 by 12's. When I do get around to putting my layouts in albums the plan is to have a mized sized album.
What is your favourite colour scheme? I tend to go through stages with colours and stuff and lately I just love the more earthy colours, brown and greens.
How many hours a week do you scrap? I do most of it while Asher is in bed of a night time and a little durring the day on weekends if we haven't got other plans so about 12 hours a week.
What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? My one thing lately would have to be my inks, teamed with my edge distressor. They are used on nearly every page in some way.
Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Distressed, layered and textured

Welcome, Julie, to the SISTERHOOD of SCRAP! We'll get to know Julie more during the week!

SKETCH Saturday Sept 6th-LIZ WEBER

Good morning ,everyone! 'Tis a chilly one here in Newfoundland.Brrrr! All week it's been very gorgeous and we were finally getting our "summer".But this morning it is cold ,wet and feeling like Fall.

Our featured sketch artist today is LIZ WEBER.

Here's a little about her:

My name is Liz Weber, I am 39 years old, my husband Jason and I have been together for 15 years and we have 2 children, Zane (6) and Sabrina (2).

I have been scrapbooking for just over 4 years and only really got addicted to creating digital sketches with Adobe Photoshop last year.

I help coordinate another Sketch Blog and I am on the Design Team of 3 online Scrap Stores that also use my digital sketches for inspiration for our Scrapbooking Community.

I recently obtained a part time job in a local scrap shop and I will also be providing sketches for classes there.

I am honoured to have been invited to provide the Sisterhood of Scraps Challenge Blog one of my digital sketches.

Enjoy ladies and I can't wait to see what you create with this sketch.

Thanks Liz! Check out her BLOG.
Here's her sketch! Enjoy, scrappers.Be sure to tell us about it, if you try it!!!

FOTO Friday - Sept 5th

Hi everyone! Just popping in while on holidays. I am so ready to head home, but still have a few days left :-)

We are heading out to do some antique shopping today -- well, mostly looking as we don't have a lot of room left in the van......

I do love the look of old items, especially books.

So, for today's challenge, show us a photo of an old item you may have. Post to your blog and leave a link for us to visit and see. Tell us the story behind your item.

Text Thursday-Sept 4th

This one's easy today, or at least I THINK it is!!!

List 3 words that describe YOU!

Post in the comments here or on your blog. Then you could even take those 3 words and create a layout using those 3 words as the title!!!

Let's get to know Tracey a little more!

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? I wasn’t sure I could pick just one actually! I am lucky to actually really love most of the layouts I complete! This one is one of my faves though because it is of my baby girl of course!!! What do you love the most about scrapping? I love seeing the pages come together and I love to showcase my pictures and memories!!!

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? The expense. My bank account just doesn’t support my addiction!!

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? I struggle with masculine layouts actually. I have lots of nephews and I always find those pages harder. Could be because I love flowers and all of the girlie embellishments!!!

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? nope

Have you ever been published? Nope, but I have never submitted either so I guess it is hard to get published that way.

What type of camera do you use? Mostly I use my Canon S3IS but I do also have a Nikon D50 but hubby mostly uses that.

What would be your perfect day? A day spent with my family hanging out and spending time together (not too fussy where). Then I would like to end that day with some uninterrupted scrap time!! That doesn’t happen too often with a two-year-old.

Teaching Tuesday-Sept 2nd

Tracey says:

For my favourite scrapbooking techniques I actually like to keep things simple but one of the things I love is to ink my papers. I just find it gives a little extra something!! Lately I am also very much enjoying the Bazzill In Stitchz – they have so many fun templates!!!

Thanks, Tracey! I ink too! I usually use Tim Holtz Distressing inks, or my Stampin' Up ink pads. What do you scrappers out there use to ink your papers? Let us know your fav inks.

Also, have you tried Bazzill in Stitchz? I have never heard of it! Yikes! Tell us how you feel about it!

Challenge MONDAY-Sept 1st

Happy Labour Day, everyone!!! Hope you're all having a relaxing day, taking a break from your work!!

Are you ready for today's challenge?
Well, here it is...

Since this is BACK TO SCHOOL time, I want you to create a layout about school, learning, lessons, graduation... It DOES NOT have to be school related, if you don't want it to be. Maybe you could do a layout about things your parents taught you, piano lessons, hockey school, cake decorating class, teaching your kid to ride bike...you get the idea!

Send your challenge to us at mailto:sisterhood.of.scrap@gmail.com?subject=sept1 by Sunday, Sept 8th!Please make sure you use the link above. This makes it so much easier for us to filter our emails and ensures that we don't miss your submission!

You'll have a chance to enter your name for a prize from our sponsor this month -- LOVE IS IN THE DETAILS--- It will give you a chance to become our NEXT sister, as well!

Here are the sister's creations:

TRACEY

journalling reads:

I remember when I was a child and my dad had this interesting method of having my siblings and I work out our differences - we were to walk up and down our laneway holding hands. I can remember a time Jim and I were fighting about something (what I can't remember) and Dad sent us out to do the laneway walk. We were not happy in the beginning but by the end we were skipping along and swinging our hands! Dad may have been a little creative in his discipline but I think there was some genius there too!

DEANNE

Journalling reads:

My Grade 6 class of 07-08.What a great bunch of kids.Every year it gets harder to send them off to Grade 7, to a new school! But that's something I have to learn as a teacher, "Let them go!" (but it's sad)

SUSAN

Here's a LO with a photo of my oldest daughter holding onto her little sister's hands helping her to walk. I love this photo because it shows how much they love each other, and how much they can learn from each other!

CARLA (is on vacation and is nowhere near a computer OR scrapping supplies)
