TEXT Thursday - January 10th

Today's journaling challenge comes from Lynn Anne. Enjoy!

Personal Scrap Trends

The beginning of a new year means lots of 'year in review'-type blog posts. When I answered a challenge to post about 'top 10 scrap projects of 2007' I found that what I was actually finding were my top 'personal scrap trends' of 2007. Until I looked back in my galleries and computer files, I didn't realize how many new things I'd tried..how many fewer layouts I'd done, and how many more cards and altered items. Here's everything I had to say about it:

Your challenge is to blog about your personal scrap trends of 2007 - were you doing a new size, or different sizes? Lumpy, lean-and-linear, graphic, doodley? What was new and different, and what tried and true favorites did you keep? Feel free to post a couple of fave projects in there too, we always love seeing those!

Link your post back to the comments here so we can come take a look at what trends you were following (or setting!) over the past year!

WEB Wednesday-Jan 9th

Lynn Anne has given us a wonderful list of favorite sites she visits:

Oh, I have lots! My favorite for scrapbooking in particular, though it also covers other papercrafting, is Scrap Friends (http://www.scrapfriends.us).There's a community and gallery and all that, but the best is the product reviews. A number of reviews all month, five different scrappers with all different styles give info and impressions of all the new tools, products, collections, etc. including sample projects. Talk about enabling! Some of my staple products and techniques were ones I learned about from Scrap Friends.

But I visit lots of blogs for inspiration too, and many of them have little or nothing to do with 'scrapbooking' per se - but their artistry inspires me anyway!

For cardmaking, I love the card sketches at Di Hickman's blog:http://dihickman.blogspot.com - and I love the cards (almost daily!) by this lady, who's got a rich, very distinct style to her work:http://stampinwithmarkiesmom.blogspot.com .

For general inspiration from crafty people, I love:Betz White, felter (I didn't even really 'get' what felting WAS till I'd been stalking her blog for a few months - love her sense of colors and artistry): blog.betzwhite.com

Angry Chicken (fun, irreverent craftiness; wicked sense of humor):http://angrychicken.typepad.com

My House is Cuter Than Yours (lots of retro inspiration/craftiness, very cool) http://myhouseiscuterthanyours.blogspot.com

Thanks so much Lynn Anne! Now we all have some web-surfing to do!!!!!

In this world it is not what we take up, but what we give up, that makes us rich.

SISTER Sunday - January 6th

Please give a BIG welcome to our very first sister of the new year -- Lynn Anne C.!!

Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to Ian (who is also a scrapbooker) for six years. We have two scrapbooking children as well: Ralph is four (and was chosen to be Memory Villa’s featured Child Designer for January!), and Kaycie will be three next month. We are also expecting a new baby boy in March…but that one’s not scrapbooking yet, that we know of :-)

How long have you been scrapbooking? Scrapbooking found me five years ago this month.

Lynn Anne's layout for Challenge 35:

~*~*~*~*~

What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? Oh, everything. Pretty pictures of my family and the things/places/people I love…playing with papers and paints and goodies…learning new things as new techniques are born…and especially getting to share ideas and projects with my online friends.

Describe your scrap space. Do you like/dislike it? My scrap space is currently my whole house…space is at a premium here, so every nook and cranny has something scrappy stored in it. I craft on top of the piano or on the stove half the time. But my dh is setting up a scraproom downstairs now that’s half done (our papers are already organized along one wall..we just have to move a little furniture around before it’s ready for a table and such) and I will be VERY excited to be able to craft in one place!

Do you enjoy other crafts and/or hobbies? I enjoy everything papercrafting…have been on a big card-making kick lately, plus I like to make altered items for my home.

What scrapbook magazines do you read? I read anything I can get my hands on…lol! But I think my current subscriptions are Memory Makers, GiftMaker and CardMaker, and BHG Scrapbooks Etc.

How thick is your cardstock and paper stash?
We have paper racks along one 8’ish wall of our soon-to-be scrapbook room, gleaned from a going-out-of-business Rag Shop a year or so ago. I don’t dare actually measure how tall that stack would be if we piled it up together!

Are you an organized or messy scrapper? Both. My core items, I have where I can find them. But everything is all over the (small, cluttered) house, so to *anyone* else (including my husband!) it looks like there’s no rhyme or reason to it. (Our papers, however, are very organized!)

Be sure to drop by her blog (and let her know you were there!). Lots of stuff to read and see :-)
