TEACHING Tuesday - October 28/08

Here's a little tip Tina shares with us today:

For all the stampers out there. Do you have cases and cases of empty cd's cases???If so, use them to store your acrylic stamps in. They are small and compact and you can label them, and still see what's inside. Great way to use something you already have...

Thanks Tina!! Great tip for sure!!

SISTER Sunday! - Oct 26th

Well, our month is zipping by so quickly -- only one more week left. Hard to believe, isn't it?
We have a new Sister for you this morning.

Tina Marie Croon

Tell us about your family: I have been married for 14 years to John. I have three beautiful daughter: Jessica (17), Kirsten (14), Kendall (12), and John (Bubba 6). I have been scrappin' on and off for about 13 years......more on the last 5!
Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? My children. I have a lot of memories of my childhood, but nothing I can show and share with them. I want them to be able to look at my scrapbooks and tell their children all about growing up.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? My daughters have picked up a little on my hobby. I hope they continue.

What size do you normally scrap? 12 X 12 and sometimes I still feel like I don't have enough room.

What is your favourite colour scheme? I don't have a favorite……I play in all the colors.

How many hours a week do you scrap? Never as many I as would like……usually a couple of hours a week and an entire weekend twice a year with some friends.

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? More room…..more……it's hard for me to feel complete about a layout, I ALWAYS…have more to say…and I love my inks and sandpaper. Love that destroyed look!

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. FULL OF LIFE!

Take a look through Tina's gallery to see some of her lovely work! Here's one that she submitted for our Challenge 77

Drop by tomorrow for the final challenge for October, AND your last chance to win a prize from Scrapbooking Oasis!!

SKETCH Saturday-Shannon Thomas

Hi everyone!!! Hope you're having a great weekend!!! Just wanted to let you know that it will be CHRISTMAS DAY in two month from now!!! Ha!!! Yikes!! I don't have ANY Christmas shopping done yet! Do you?

Anyway, let's worry about Christmas some time in December, hey! Let's see who the featured sketch artist is today...

It's SHANNON THOMAS!

Here's what Shannon says:

My name is Shannon Thomas and I live in Pennsylvania with my husband Jason and my son Hunter who is 9. I have been scrapbooking since I was pregnant with Hunter. He is my constant inspiration. I try and do something creative everyday; I find that it helps me get through my day. Since I started scrapbooking I have become more involved in photography and I just love taking pictures of everything that is happening around us and in our everyday lives. For me scrapbooking is a way to share our memories with others and for Hunter to remember what his childhood was like.

I have not been published but that is a goal of mine. I do not scrap just to get published though. If there is a call out there somewhere that catches my attention then I will work on it but that is not my main priority. I just want to record our lives as they are happening so that others can rember and so that we can rember the times that we have shared...good or bad.

Thanks, Shannon!

Here's Shannon's sketch. Doesn't it look like a fun sketch to do?? I think it does! I love the cirlcles and ,of course, the scalloped edges!
Try her sketch and let us know where to see your layout! We'd LOVE to see your creation!

Have a super Saturday, everyone!

TEACHING Tuesday-Oct.21

Tanya has a tip today about glossy accents!!!!

I use glossy accents a lot to give my LO's and cards dimension and that extra something. I use it to accent paper, then use that paper as an embellishment. For example, you can cut out a flower from your paper and outline with glossy accents. it's great for making eyes pop out when using animal stamps and its a great glue for beads, glitter and flock.
Thanks Tanya!!
