Our tip today comes from Julie!!

One of my favorite techniques is to layer pattern paper. If you ever lose your mojo, which of course happens to us all, a great tip would be to start cutting up pattern paper into different blocks. Don't really worry too much about the size, just cut it down enough to layer with some coordinating paper. Then start playing around with all the different pieces and how you think they would 'fit' together. Almost like a puzzle! I used to be so afraid to 'cut' into my precious paper! LOL! Once I gave myself the freedom to cut up my paper before I even knew exactly what I was going to do, it totally changed the way I scrapbooked.

SISTER Sunday - July 6th

Let me introduce you to our newest "sister" :-)

Julie Overby from Oregon.

Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to the love of my life for the past 13 years. We have 3 fabulous children. Our son is 9 and our two daughters are 6 and 4.

When did you start scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking nearly 13 years ago, right after I got married.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I wanted desperately to preserve all the precious photos and memories of our wedding and the time leading up to it.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? My Mum does! I’ve also got my two little girls a bit interested!

What size do you normally scrap? 12x12

What is your favourite colour scheme? Red/teal, pink/green, brown/orange…I don’t know!! How could I possibly choose ONE favourite??? LOL!

How many hours a week do you scrap? 4 hours

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? Lots and lots of pattern paper, glue dots, my Fiskars Xacto knife and chalk ink.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Continuously changing.

Pamela's favorite layout

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? It was one of those layouts that I was just so pleased with when I had finished it...I thought it was creative and unique. I made it early last summer and I still haven't made a layout that I like more.

What do you love the most about scrapping? I love looking back through everything I have done and just enjoying it. :)

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? Nothing. I used to feel the pressure to scrap in order...but I let that go and just do whatever I want when I want.

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap?

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? yep...I used to teach a monthly class at my church. Now I do card classes twice a year there.

What type of camera do you use? Canon Digital EOS 40D

What would be your perfect day? To get a book or magazine contract where I could share my love of scrapbooking.

I can't imagine my life without ...my family.

Lately I have been all about the glimmer mist. I love adding it to my layouts, my chipboard, and especially by grungeboard (gives it a leather-y look). Check out my blog for my tutorial:
