Carole's Favorite Layout....

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? My favourite layout is one that I created to talk about my son's Autism. I started out with puzzle pieces, then just started making circles - overlapping them. Then I wrote on the outside of the circles things that my son does. It has no photos, it's simple yet it is definitely the perfect way to explain how the disease is: Complicated.

Journalling for my favourite layout:
You don’t like to do things that other kids do. You aren’t into sports.
You flap your hands when you get excited or nervous.
You constantly bite your lower lip.
You don’t like to touch ‘goopey’ things.
You are physically aggressive.
You are obsessed with your hot wheel cars.
You pull on the collar of your shirts.
You ask the same question over and over…
You run away and don’t understand danger.
You have separation anxiety if you are away from me.
You are polite.
You don’t sleep very well or long enough.
You don’t accept change very well. Different seasons are difficult for you to accept. It’s a struggle every time.
You don’t have eye contact.
You can never sit still for a meal.
You are funny.
You didn’t speak until you were almost 3 years old.
And I love U.
Where is the missing piece of the puzzle?

What do you love the most about scrapping? The best thing about scrapbooking is meeting all the wonderful scrappers! I have a group of scrapping friends here in Ottawa. We get together to scrap, share stories, laugh and share tips. I've also flown to Winnipeg to meet a bunch of fantastic ladies from that area and I had so much fun. I've made many friends through this hobby. Plus, I love to be creative/artsy and this is a way to display my work. I hope that my kids will enjoy the albums I've made for them in the future.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? Trying to keep up with the trends. I always want what is new and I forget about the stuff I've already had in my stash.

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? I find school photos and events hard to scrap.

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? I was the teacher's aid for a class at the Canadian Crop for Kids in London, Ontario.

Have you ever been published? I was published in a newsletter for Technique Tuesday. They had a contest to raise awareness about Autism. I submitted layout about my son's challenges as a kid with Autism and I won first prize. I was beyond thrilled.

What type of camera do you use? I have a Canon Power Shot S1 IS and my baby a Canon Rebel XT.

What would be your perfect day? A perfect day would be a cottage somewhere beautiful and peaceful with my scrapping friends. We'd scrap, laugh, chat, eat, and scrap some more. Of course, we'd all be in our jammies!

I can't imagine my life without my wonderful son, my beautiful daughters, my husband and my scrap supplies.
