TEACHING Tuesday - Week 9

Has your eyelet punch been feeling neglected lately? Seems like people are not using use eyelets like they used to. However, just recently I pulled mine out again and started to use it in a little different way.

I was creating a page using white cardstock, and American Craft pp (btw, did you know they now have a BLOG ) After cutting out flowers, adding the photo and figuring out what the title would be, I still felt that the layout needed that little extra to call it complete! This particular pp had circle shapes that I knew I also wanted to incorporate somehow into the layout design. After finding my eyelet punch I dusted it off! I used a circle shape to pencil out a shape that I could follow. Using the eyelet punch, I created holes around the drawn circles, changing the sizes often to vary the size of each hole. You can see it here. Placing colored cardstock behind the holes brought out that extra 'punch' of color, and helped to mimic the circular designs on the pp. This completed the layout. I then decided to create a card and used my eyelet punch, the same way, to create circles on the cs, then placed the brightly colored pp behind it. Here's the finished product.

So pull out your eyelet punch once again, and use it on your projects!! We want to see what you create too, so don't forget to share your creations with us!
