TEACHING Tuesday - June 9th

I've only recently been interested in Stickles -- glittery glue. They come in so many colors, but my favorite right now is Cinnamon.

Here's a little tutorial I tried this week. It's all about using Stickles to make a "bling" flourish. I did see someone else have a tutorial done for this, but could not remember where I saw it!

I started with a foam flourish Thicker, a bottle of Stickles and a piece of transparency.
I stuck the flourish on paper and laid the transparency over it. Another option would be to stamp a flourish on a sheet of scrap paper and then the transparency.

Add dots of Stickles. You can put them as close as you like. I think I should have mine a bit "puffier" to look more like bling. Also, two coats would probably work better. Let dry.

Once dried it should look like this. Trim with tiny scissors, getting as close to the "bling" as possible.

Add to your layout/card.

ENJOY!

SISTER Sunday - June 7th

You've seen our new sister -- now let's learn a bit about her :-)

Candace Robichaud

Tell us about your family: I have two kidlets, Tayla (4 years old) & River (2 years old). I was lucky enough to marry my best friend, Ray and have loved & cherished him for over 5 years. We own our own nationwide business, and successfully run it almost all by ourselves. I am in charge of putting together a 32 page monthly publication, and do all the design work myself. It is alot of work and definitley takes away from my scrappin time, but a girl's gotta earn a living I suppose.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking?
I would have to say my Son River. When he was 3 months old I saw an album kit at Walmart and thought hey that's kinda cute....I had no idea what I was getting myself into! It's been almost 3 years since I started, and I have been published 5 times in Canadian Scrapbooker, been on 3 design teams, and started my own monthly Scrap group for fun that has grown to almost 40 talented, amazing, couldn't live without them ladies. I am so grateful for Scrapbooking!

Does anyone in your family also scrap? No one, I am the only crazy one that gets giddy with delight at family events if there is cute napkins or wrapping paper I can take home to scrap. lol.

What size do you normally scrap? Usually 12x12 and I totally dig mini albums.

What is your favourite colour scheme? Does rainbow count? I like bright bold colors usually. Hot pink, turquoise, and yellow = happiness.

How many hours a week do you scrap? Not enough. probably around 4-5 hours :( However I try and go to crops every 2 or 3 months, plus have my monthly night with my fabulous ladies!

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? My Labeller, Staples, and Thickers.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Fun, Un-traditional, and Modern

TEACHING Tuesday June 2nd

This is a very simple technique but is very cute!
Using buttons as stamps
1.Collect up a few buttons that have an edge or a ridge on them.
2. Place a piece of double-sided tape onto an acrylic block.
3.Add a button to the block, ink it up and "stamp" onto your card or your layout.4.Continue adding smaller buttons to the block and stamping them in the middle of the previous image.
5. These can be made into flowers (as in my card) or simply as circle embellishments on a layout, or whatever your imigination desires!

Challenge Monday - June 1/09

Yippeee! I have been waiting for this for what seems like forever. I am so excited to be the sister for this month and hope to inspire and be inspired from all you talented, creative ladies who join us here.

Here is my challenge for this Monday:

Do a layout of 5 favorite things in either yours or your childrens life right now, also incorporate some type of masking, and use the color yellow somewhere on your page.

Here is my take on the challenge...

And here is the fabulous Carla's Layout...

And the amazing Deanne's super sweet take on it....

Added by Susan "Hi Candace, welcome to the Sisterhood! I really LOVE this challenge and will be doing it later this week. I am writing the all day Canadian Registered Nurse Exam on Wednesday, and due to last minute study stuff, was not able to complete this challenge for today. I apologize!"

Post a link to your layout in the comment section. I can't wait to see your top 5 faves! Deadline for this challenge is June 30/09.

Every challenge done enters your name in a draw for the amazing sponsored prize.
