Jean and Lisa have wonderful challenges today!

Jean is playing skipping games and Lisa is enjoying a game of Connect 4! Check them out!

You have until April 14th to finish these challenges and be eligible for a fabulous prize. Just post a comment in these ladies blogs to let them know you completed it and where we can all see it! I can't wait to check out your layouts for these challenges!

Here the prize you will be cropping for today!! Our generous sponsor Just Cre8 is donating their April Scrap Pack to a random participant of the challenges today!! Thanks so much SUE!!!

Bonus!!! Remember the skipping song "Cinderella dressed in yellow, went upstairs to kiss a fellow. In a mistake, she kissed a snake. How many doctors did it take?"

Post another skipping song in THIS post to be eligible for a small RAK from me!!! I'd love to hear some more! I can't remember very many of them now!

I just rememembered another one! "Apples, oranges, peaches plums, tell me when your birthday comes, January, February, March, April..."

What's the one about telling your "boyfriends" name? Whatever letter you stopped on, your boyfriend's name started with that letter. And there's one about a car "I took a little trip..."

How about this one:

"Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn around Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, touch the ground Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, show your shoe Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, that will do!
Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, go upstairs Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say your prayers Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, turn out the lights Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, say good-night!

Here's mine (I could never get all the way through these without tripping on the rope):

Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around,
Teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground,
Teddy bear, teddy bear, show your shoe,
Teddy bear, teddy bear, that will do.

Teddy bear, teddy bear, brush your hair,
Teddy bear, teddy bear, climb the stairs.
Teddy bear, teddy bear, reach for the sky,
Teddy bear, teddy bear, wave goodbye.

How about...

"All in together girls,
Never mind the weather girls,
Jump in when your birthday comes,
January, February, March, etc..."

Down by the river, down by the sea,
Johnny broke a bottle and blamed it on me,
I told ma, ma told pa,
Johnny got a lickin' so ha ha ha!
How many lickin's did Johny get? (count jumps)

We skipped to some of the rhymes mentioned above, but this was our favourite:

Vote, vote, vote for (full name of person 1)
In comes (person 2) at the door
She is the one who is having all the fun,
So we don't need (person 1) anymore,
Shut the door, slam it tight.
Vote, vote, vote for (person 2)etc.

Reading through all these skipping songs makes me remember the doing them but not the actual words. My daughter told me of this one

One, two, three!
Who will skip the rope with me?
Swing it high, swing it low;
Over, under, who will go?
One, two, three!
Come on and skip with me!

Winds blow hot and winds blow freeze,
How many times did Mabel sneeze?

Here is a game we played while "chinese skipping" (aka, an elastic.)

Two girls hold the elastic around their ankles. A third girl jumps in and out of the elastic, following these chanted directions:

In, (jump into the middle)
Out, (jump out - one foot on each side)
Side, (jump one foot in middle one foot on one side)
By Side, (jump on foot in middle- one foot on the other side)
On, (jump on the elastic- one foot on each side)
In, (jump into the middle)
Out (jump out- one foot on each side)
If the sequence is done correctly then raise the elastic to mid calf and so on.

Loving all the skipping rhymes. I remember this one:

"Strawberry, shortcake, treacle tart.
Tell me the name of my sweetheart...
A B C D E ....."

When you tripped up (I always did!!) you had to name the boy starting with that letter. Ewwwwwwwww.....

Bubble gum bubble bum in a dish
How many pieces do you wish...

then you count how many jumps you make before you mess up.

This was fun!
