TEACHING Tuesday - October 7

Our Teaching Tuesday today comes from our sister Carole! Here's what she says:

My favourite thing to do when creating a layout is using a bigger black and white photo and using the same photo in colour only smaller. There is no rule that says you can only use either colour or black and white photos.

Also, I always recommend journaling by hand. I think it's important for our future generations to see that we took the time to write out the stories by hand. A layout is complete when it's hand written.

SISTER Sunday - October 5th

Another beautiful Fall day here in Newfoundland. Time to see who our next sister will be!

Please welcome Carole, aka Boo :-)

Tell us about your family: I am happily married to Joel. We have three great kids. Riley is going on 9, Rachel is going on 6 and little Paige who is 3. They are the sunshine in my life. They all have different characters and compliment each other very well. This house is rarely quiet. When it is, I know they are up to no good. We are a francophone family and I do try hard to create French layouts. Although, English is so much easier for me to do.

Who/What inspired you to start scrapbooking? I learned about scrapbooking shortly after my son was born. I dabbled in it a bit but nothing seriously. I used to buy the kits from Michael's with the paper, die cuts and stickers. After letting it go to concentrate on helping my son get the help he needed for Autism, I met with a group of Moms from a parenting site and they all scrapbooked. That is when I got back into and I've never looked back. My inspiration is definitely my kids - I get so many great photos of them. I look for inspiration in everything around me from clothing, advertising billboards, magazine ads, the outdoors and my scrapping friends.

Does anyone in your family also scrap? No one in my family scrapbooks.

What size do you normally scrap? I mainly scrap 12x12 and I love to alter frames and mini albums.

What is your favourite colour scheme? I love earth tones and I use a lot of pink for layouts of my girls.

How many hours a week do you scrap? Not enough! With 3 kids and working full-time I don't get to sit at in my scrap room very often.

What is one thing you always find yourself reaching for when creating a layout? Buttons, flowers, chipboard and ink.

Describe your scrapping style in just three words. Eclectic, shabby chic-ish, and sometimes simple

September 2008 we were blessed with another baby girl. We are very busy with our family and business. My husband has been my computer technician and on occasion is the deliveryman to take the parcels to the Post Office. I update the site, buy and add new products, perform customer service etc. Aside from our online
scrapbooking store. My husband owns and operates his own business with his
brother and I work full time outside of the home (when I am not on maternity leave). February 2005 we had a valued customer hold the first e-mail party, in which she earned a gift voucher for our website to purchase scrapbooking products for herself! Yes, when you hold an e-mail party you can earn FREE products!

We added a design team to our website in November 2004 and February 2005 we introduced a Forum to our website. Later we changed the design team and opted to have Freelance design. My style has changed a lot since then, but the love for scrapbooking has stayed strong. My dh loves to tease me about spending so much on scrapbooking (but I know deep down he likes it). SKETCH Saturday OCT 4-Susan Costanza

Well, first of all, I would like to wish everyone a HAPPY CARD MAKING DAY!!! Wahoo!!! There are sooooo many cardmaking crops and challenges out there today so find a spot and settle in and make some cards. Or you can forum/blog hop from place to place and combine challenges!!! That's fun! I enjoy doing that!

OK, let's get on to our Sketch artist today. It was so wonderful how this worked out as I plan my sketchers out months ahead and today just happened to be a card sketch artist who has her own card sketch a DAY blog--Susan Costanza!!!

My name is Susan Costanza and I've been scrapping for about 5 years. A few months ago I started creating cards for troops. One thing lead to another and I started up a ~Card Sketch A Day~ blog.

Mandee's favorite layout

Tell us about your favorite layout you have ever completed? The funnest LO that I ever completed was one of my dog Kylo. I designed this page before I found what picture I was going to use. It was challenging to me to decide what size of photo would go where along with cutting and using many different kinds of papers. I love how the arrow follows right around and points right to the dog. I have several favorites but this one makes my heart smile when I look at it.

What do you love the most about scrapping? Being able to be artistic and creative my own way. There are no rules to scrapping. There is no right or wrong. I love that I can leave a small part of me behind, for my grandchildren and their children to enjoy and learn about their family memories.

What do you dislike the most about scrapbooking? Keeping up with the trends

What topic do you find the most difficult to scrap? Old photos (They have so much meaning and I don’t want to mess them up) That scares me.

Have you ever taught a scrapbooking class? Yes

Have you ever been published? Yes, in a catalog for Heartstring designs

What type of camera do you use? Cannon Rebel XTI, which I love!

What would be your perfect day? Scrapping, drinking a 44 oz diet coke with lime from Sonic, being in my comfy clothes, listening to fun upbeat music!!

I can't imagine my life without... my husband and my two sweet girls. They are my life and they make me the fun loving person that I am.

TEXT Thursday - October 2/08

One thing I love to do is create a layout with a long title. Often times, we just use 1 or 2 word titles but using longer ones are so much fun. Try it!

So...the next LO you make, try and use a title that is 4, 5 ,6 or more words! Don't forget to share it with us!
