SISTER Sunday - April 20th

Please welcome Heather R. to the Sisterhood!

Tell us about your family: I’ve been married to husband Dan for 11 years. We have two children – Nathan (age 9) who is getting very camera shy, Lauren (age 7) who totally poses as soon as she sees a camera. We also have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever Kona and two cats – Meow and Deshka

How/Why did you start scrapbooking? I went with my friend to a CM class. I had 3 photos with me and nothing else. Everyone else had several bags of stuff. Now I know why. I didn’t really get into scrapbooking until I discovered the online sites though.

How long have you been scrapbooking? Approx. 4 years.

What is it about scrapbooking that you really love? I love the creative process. Playing with colors, textures, embellishments to create a particular mood or feeling. Telling a story through pictures and words

How many hours a week do you scrapbook? maybe 10-12 actual hands to paper. I’m constantly thinking of ideas and planning layouts.

How long does it take you to complete a layout? I’m getting faster but usually I play with an idea for several days, then get my photos, think of a title and journaling, then assemble papers and embellishments. I keep playing with it till it looks right.

Where do you get your inspiration? Not sure, I gather ideas from magazines, other’s layouts, quotes, sketches etc. but never seem to use them when I scrap. I LOVE challenges so perhaps that’s the kick off point and I try and let my mind freewheel from there.
